The Build-it-Back project is an NYC Housing Recovery Operations (HRO) initiative established to support 12,500 families affected by the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. The primary goal of this project is to aid in the recovery process by providing assistance to families in repairing, rebuilding, relocating, and elevating their homes across the impacted zones in New York City.
JOADEM, in collaboration with CSA Group, played a crucial role in this project by providing Quality Assurance Special Inspections and Materials Testing services. Their involvement extended to multiple homes throughout the city.
The focus of the project primarily revolved around concrete sampling and testing, which accounted for 90% of the tasks performed. Various locations, predominantly personal homes that suffered damage during the storms, were subject to these inspections. The concrete used in foundations, walls, and footings underwent meticulous scrutiny and testing to ensure compliance with design mix requirements and the necessary strength standards.
By engaging in these quality assurance measures, JOADEM and CSA Group contributed to the overall success and safety of the rebuilding process. The thorough inspection and testing of the concrete played a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity of the homes, providing peace of mind to the affected families.
